Technical data:
The laying-out length of the extension of the Line IVC2 of Prague Metro is 4599m; of this length, 2455m and 1154m are the lengths of mined and cut and cover tunnels respectively. The double-track tunnel design prevails; two short single-track tunnel sections (120m long) are only at Letňany Station, for which a central platform was designed.
The excavation passed through sedimentary rocks, characterised by cretaceous and glauconitic sandstones, which are overlaid with impermeable claystone. The excavated cross sectional areas of the double-track and single-track tunnels were 62m2 and 30m2 respectively. The areas of the net clearance profiles after the completion of the cast-in-situ final lining are 54m2 and 26m2 respectively.
There are three new cut-and-cover stations on the line, i.e. Střížkov, Prosek and Letňany. The architecture of all the three stations is very good. The unique steel structure of Střížkov station allows access of daylight to the whole station space, including platforms. Letňany station, which is the line extension terminus, comprises a surface terminal for urban and regional bus/coach services. In addition, there is a large-capacity park-and-ride facility next to the station.
The Line IVC2 was brought into service in May 2008.
