Principal Instructions for Authors
Authors are responsible for content of their submissions (articles, contributions and advertisements) and its factual and formal aspects. Opinions of authors do not have to comply with opinions of publisher.
Authors are responsible for origin of their articles. Submitted articles have not been previously published in another journal and manuscripts have not been submitted to another journal for consideration (or a reasonable explanation has been provided).
Authors have full authorial rights for submissions. Submissions contain no content that is illegal or offends on any proprietary right or any copyright.
Authors agree with publication of their articles in printed and electronic versions of the TUNEL magazine. This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. Articles will be available in the magazine database for indefinite time.
All articles must include abstracts (summary with recommended length 150 – 200 words). Also appropriate references are required.
Authors are required to undersign enclosed declaration.
Peer Review Process
All articles are assessed by the editorial board. All submitted articles are uploaded to the secured webpages with access of all editorial board members. All articles are discussed at regular editorial board meetings (4 meetings per year). All accepted articles are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Reviewers evaluate content, technical level and quality of submitted articles. Submitted articles can be refused (based on a negative review, unclear copyright, etc.).

Formal Instructions for Authors
A) Articles and contributions:
1. Requirements for text processing:
Write the text of the article without graphic attachments and photographs on PC in the MS Word editor, font TIMES NEW ROMAN, font size 12.
Keep in mind: - simple line spacing, text aligned to the left, first-line indent of 5mm, no extra spaces between paragraphs; all margins 2 cm.
Recommended length of text - maximum 8 pages.
The text should be apposite, adequately brief, without repeating generally known information or data
Structure of text:
- Name of article (CAPITAL LETTERS - bold);
- Author/authors (CAPITAL LETTERS - only name and surname, no titles);
- Abstract – all articles must include brief summary of their contents. Recommended scope is 150 – 200 words, font TIMES NEW ROMAN, font size 12, cursive letters;
- Text of article
In the text, all equations, expressions with indexes, Greek letters and other technical marks (e. g. m3, Ø, σ) need to be highlighted in yellow.
The editorial board will welcome if the author supplies a quality English translation together with the Czech text
At the end of the text, the following data are to be given:
- Name and surname of author/authors, organization, address and contact (phone, fax, email).
A numbered list of graphical attachments and photographs including titles; author of a graphical attachment or a photo (company or person name) quoted in parentheses
2. Requirements for graphical attachments - drawn pictures, graphs, photographs
a) General instructions
- The attachments need to be numbered in accordance with the list at the end of the text.
- Each graphical attachment shall be accompanied by the author’s (maker’s) name, with the exception of attachments created by the author or one of co-authors of the paper
- When preparing graphical attachments, the author has to ensure that the data are well-structured and readable when proportionally zooming the picture to fit the width of the textual columns which is 90 mm (exceptionally to fit the width of two columns, i. e. 185 mm)!
The author gives only necessary details in the graphical attachments and substitutes text with legend. - With regard to bilingual character of the magazine, text in the graphical attachment should be avoided and substituted with numbered link or letters that correspond to the text in the legend in the maximum possible extent. If some text is left in the graphics, it should be written in both languages or twice in Czech (one phrase below the other)
- Attachments that do not allow quality printing will be returned to the author for correction.
b) Digital data
- Optimum format is AI, PDF, EPS; JPG, TIFF.
- Pictures, charts, graphs etc. that are submitted for printing in COREL DRAW format need to be saved inversion 8, the Adobe Illustrator may also be used. Fonts are to be converted to curves before final saving of the file.
- If a picture is submitted as a bitmap, keep the required resolution (see point 3.) and examine the font size with regard to the reduction of picture size to the width of 90 mm or exceptionally to 185 mm.
3. Requirements for photographs
- Number the photographs according to the list of attachments.
- Quality original photographs are preferred - positives on glossy paper of the format 10x15 cm or bigger.
- Digital photographs obtained directly from the digital camera (not by scanning a photograph) need to have the optimum resolution of 300 dpi, at least 120 dpi. The pictures for the 90 mm column width need to be taken in the minimum resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Additional processing (magnification, contrast modification etc.) using software tools are to be avoided.
- Formats for digital photographs: JPG, TIFF, RAW.
4. Requirements for a paper submission:
- The text of the article processed in accordance with point 1. (i. e. without graphic attachments and photographs) can be sent by electronic mail to the editor's office before the date of the copy deadline.
- Graphic attachments and photographs must be posted or handed over to the CzTA secretariat:
· Photographs in original forms, including numbering according to the list of attachments.
· Attachments or photographs in the digital form on a carrier (CD) shall be provided with a description identical with the list of attachments.
· Submit a colour print of digital attachments (layouts, cross sections etc.)
· The size of e-mailed files should not exceed 10MB. Alternative data transmission software can be used in the case of larger files, e.g. Uschovna.cz.
B) Advertisements:
Send the advertisement by mail or hand them over in the CzTA secretary's office:
- in digital form on a data carrier processed as graphical attachments (see point 2)
- bleed format: A4 size paper (210x297mm) or half A4 (210x146mm) + 3mm bleed either side;
- advertisements inside the magazine can be processed in a trim format with the following dimensions: 186x263mm (full page) or 186x128mm (half page)
- The size of e-mailed files should not exceed 10MB. Alternative data transmission software can be used in the case of larger files, e.g. Uschovna.cz.
References
Submitted articles should include references which comply with templates listed further. Listed templates are based on CSN ISO 609 (internationally valid Czech standard). Maximum number of references is 10. All listed references should be mentioned in the article text.
