Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement of the Tunel journal

Editors, reviewers and authors of the Tunel journal are obliged to comply with the following ethical standards of publication:

Editors' responsibilities
- The editorial board must accept manuscripts for review without prejudice.
- The editorial board has complete responsibility and authority to accept or reject submitted articles.
- The editorial board is responsible for monitoring and safeguarding of publishing ethics.
- The assessment of manuscripts submitted is based solely on their scientific merit, without any reference to commercial interests.
- The editorial board accepts only papers that contain preliminary information about original new research. The manuscripts must not have been previously published or considered for publication elsewhere.
- Appointed editors and reviewers are chosen on the basis that they have no conflict of interest with respect to evaluated articles (the research, the authors and/or the funders of the research).
- When the reviewers propose rejection of a manuscript, it has to be discussed and confirmed by the editorial board. The chairman will then notify the author about the decision of the editorial board and explain the reasons for rejection.
- When significant errors are found in a published paper, the editor is obliged to issue a corrigendum notice.
- The editors and publishers of the Tunel journal are obliged to preserve the anonymity of reviewers, if reviewers ask for it.
- The editorial procedure must not influence the text, tables or illustrations of the paper in a negative way.

Authors' responsibilities

- The principal author and/or co-authors are solely responsible for ensuring that the observations and data reported in their manuscript are accurate and relevant.
- The manuscript must not contain unreferenced content reproduced from other sources, and data must not be deceptive or fraudulent.
- The manuscript submitted to the Tunel journal must not be under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.
- The manuscript must contain a complete list of references, as well as acknowledgement of research funding (from a grant, research programme or any other source).
- All the authors of a manuscript should have made a significant contribution to the research described in it.
- All data in articles should be real and authentic. Authors are obliged to notify the editor or publisher of the Tunel journal promptly if a significant error in their paper is identified.
- Authors are obliged to participate in the peer-review process.

Reviewers' responsibilities

- The reviewer is expected to assist in improving the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively.
- Reviewers must keep unpublished manuscripts in the process of review strictly confidential. The content can only be discussed with members of the editorial board.
- The reviewer is obliged to alert the editor to any parts of a manuscript copied from other publications without acknowledgement.
- The reviewer should point out relevant published work that has not been cited in the list of references.
- The reviewer should have no conflicts of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders.
- The reviewer must not advance different scientific opinions to the detriment of the authors.
