Technical data:
The Klimkovice motorway tunnel is part of the D47 motorway section Bílovec – Ostrava Rudná. The aggregate lengths of the mined and cut-and-cover sections of the tube A and tube B are 1077m and 1088m respectively. The tunnel protects the spa of Klimkovice – Hýlov with its healing springs from the effects of the traffic on the motorway which runs in the vicinity of the spa.
The two tubes of the motorway tunnel were driven from both the Brno and Ostrava portals. The mined parts of the tube A and tube B are 865m and 875m long respectively.
The rock environment consists of claystone and sandstone. The excavated cross section with the area of 120m2 was divided into a top heading, bench and invert. The cast-in-situ final lining, with the net profile area of 72m2, is in polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete; the lining surface is protected against thawing chemicals by final coating.

The tunnel was opened to traffic on 6th May 2008.
